Export buyer attendance was good with two additional southern export processors active in the market.

The regular feed and trade plus restocker buyers were also present and operating.

Light weight yearling steers and heifers followed the trend of other selling centres and sold to limited support.

However yearling steers and heifers to feed improved in price by 4c to 16c/kg.

Plain condition bullocks to export processors averaged 13c/kg less and the better end experienced very little change.

Cows to restockers averaged 6c better while the export processor lines averaged 2c to 8c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 396c average 342c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg to restockers made to 386c average 348c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 340c to 346c and sold to 366c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to the occasional 356c to average 330c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 266c to average 242c and poor quality lines 195c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 258c to 284c and sold to 312c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 308c to average 282c/kg.

The better end of the bullocks made to 296c to average 288c and plain condition lines 266c and sold to 275c/kg. Plain condition cows to restockers averaged 176c and made to 196c/kg.

Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 197c and the best of the cows averaged 213c made to 220c/kg. Heavy weight bulls to 270c/kg.

Grant Daniel Long Report:

Numbers jumped to 4990 head yarded this week in Dalby, with GDL bringing in 1450 of those. The usual panel of buyers were present and active, and we also saw the addition of two southern export buyers. Overall, the market did not experience any major changes on the previous week. Cows sold to slightly cheaper rates. Young bullocks, as well as the better pens of feeder heifers sold slightly dearer. Second grade cattle, especially lightweight yearling heifers sold better than previous weeks, closing the gap between them and your “A-grade” cattle.
