Trevor Hess, NLRS, 27/04/2023

Yarding 6875 Change +2055

The number of cattle penned at Dalby increased by 2,055 head to 6,875 with the cancellation of some sales due to the public holiday lifting supply.

All the regular operators were present and active in the market. Despite the very large number of cows buyers were able to absorb the larger supply plus maintain firm prices. Yearling steers to feed experienced a small improvement in places. The better end of the yearling heifers held firm, however poor quality lines were cheaper.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 450c with the largest numbers from 405c to 415c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 372c to 390c and sold to 422c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers averaged 352c and made to 374c with some to restockers at 409c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged 311c and made to 346c and poor quality lines 261c/kg.
