Numbers increased by close to 1000 head, this included some consignments from Birdsville, Bourke in New South Wales and some from South Australia.

Buyer attendance was generally good and included some additional export processors in the cow section.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to firm demand however light weight heifers sold to a cheaper trend. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced very little change in price while medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 13c/kg less. A fair line up of heavy grown steers and bullocks to export slaughter averaged 10c to 15c cheaper and cows lost a further 6c to 16c/kg.

Some steer calves returning to the paddock made to 418.2c with a good sample of mixed sex calves averaging 385c/kg. Vealer heifers sold to restockers at an average of 339c with some to 342.2c/kg. A good supply of light weight yearling steers returned to the paddock at an average of 374c with some to 415.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed mostly sold around 332c with sales to 354.2c and a good number of heavy weights averaged in the mid-320c/kg range and sold to 332.2c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers sold to restockers at an average of 313c with the occasional sale to 356.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 303c and made to 328.2c and some better lines made to 330c to average 310c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 272c and made to 282.2c and bullocks averaged a similar amount and made to 275.2c/kg. A large sample of PTIC heifers sold to restockers at an average of 264c with some pens reaching 282.2c/kg. Restockers were also very active in the cow section with a large sample of good heavy cows PTIC making 226.2c/kg to return $1207/head. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 196c and made to 208.2c/kg. A large sample of good heavy cows made to 225.2c with most close to 223c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 257.2c/kg.

Cattle came from Western NSW, SA, Blackall, Longreach, Queensland channel country and the local Dalby surrounding areas.

There was a quality draft of 176 Simmental cows station mated to Simmental bulls, from Wandoan. This draft of cows created quite a bit of attention, selling exceptionally well and being purchased by a restocker from Rockhampton.
