Dalby sale 8 Feb 2023: Numbers top national weekly yardings

The supply of stock at Dalby climbed to the highest level in the nation this week with agents penning 4,769.

The large panel of export processors of the previous week returned and all were operating.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock experience very little change in price.

Yearling steers and heifers to feed for the domestic market improved in price by 10c to 15c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 10c/kg less.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged to within a few cents of the previous weeks level. Cows experienced a similar trend. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to the occasional 614c with a large number averaging 494c with poor quality lines at 374c/kg.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to the occasional 506c with most from 437c to 478c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed were well supplied and made to 434c to average 398c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 448c to average 419c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 379c to 385c and made to 408c/kg. A large number of heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 351c and sold 396c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged from 344c to 351c and sold to 365c/kg. Medium weight cows to restockers made to 287c to average 270c/kg.

Good heavy weight cows made to 309c with a large number at 294c/kg.

Cows and calves made to $2,350/unit.

Good week in Dalby, numbers had a good boost to 4769 head yarded with GDL bringing in 1848 of them. The usual panel of buyers were present and active. Overall, the market was firm on last week. Prices were a lot more consistent throughout the sale on average of up to around 10c/kg. Not much change across most of your other categories however your top sales for top quality cattle were up.
