Clearance rates slip to 41pc in smaller AuctionsPlus offerings

In-calf heifers sold from $600 to $1260 this week to average $918. Top price went to this line of Droughtmaster heifers from Bungunya, QLD aged 18-24 months averaging 415kg and PTIC to Angus bulls.

 

CATTLE numbers offered on AuctionsPlus declined 29 percent this week to 7224 head, with widespread drought conditions contributing to a low clearance rate of 41pc across all offerings.

Again, the weekly weaner & yearling sale made up the bulk of numbers being offered, with 5794 steers and heifers up for sale. AuctionsPlus sales administrators remained confident about post-sale negotiations delivering additional completed sales over the weekend.

In-calf heifers sold from $600 to $1260 this week to average $918. Top price went to a line of Glenlands and Clonara-blood Droughtmaster heifers from Bungunya, QLD aged 18-24 months averaging 415kg and PTIC to Angus bulls.

Another highlight includes a line of 13-20 month old Santa and Santa cross heifers averaging 378kg PTIC to Santa bulls, from Dalby, QLD which sold for $910.

PTIC cows sold from $700 to $1100 and averaged $909, with the top price paid for a line of EU-accredited Angus cows 5-7 years and PTIC to Angus bulls, from Walcha, NSW. Another highlight was a line of EU-accredited Lawson and Barwidgee blood Angus cows from Willaura North, VIC. These cows aged 3-7 years averaging 527kg were PTIC to Angus bulls.

A line of Wagyu x Friesian cows 5-6 years averaging 441kg and PTIC to Wagyu bulls from Armidale, NSW sold for $800.

Less than half of cow and calf offerings sold at auction this week, with prices starting at $1150 and selling to a top of $1730. The top price went to a line of vendor-bred cows Angus breeders 4-5 years, with Angus calves at foot and depastured to Angus bulls, from Braidwood, NSW.

From Holbrook, NSW a line of Hereford cows and calves sold for $1570 and are heading on a 700km road trip to Naracoorte, SA. The rising three year olds average 514kg and have been depastured to Hazeldean Angus bulls. The Hereford calves at foot are aged 3-4 months.

A line of Dulverton blood Angus cows aged 4-7 years averaging 428kg, with Angus calves at foot, from Texas, QLD sold for $1260.

The Tasmanian market kicked this week with 100pc clearance and all lots sold well above their set reserve prices.

The highlight was a line of Angus and Angus cross steers, 9-12 months averaging 315kg from Westwood, which sold for $1090 or 346c/kg. From the same vendor the heifer portion of the mob averaging 307kg sold for $906 or 295c/kg.

From Relbia, four lines of Angus calves, 6-9 months were offered. Steers averaging 246kg sold for $800 or 325c, while heifers 305kg sold for $910 or 298c, and heavier heifers 341kg sold for $936 or 274c. The lightest line of heifer lines averaging 262kg sold for $770 or 293c.

The WA market was also hot with all lots selling this week. A line of weaned Angus and Angus cross steers, 10-11 months averaging 335kg sold for $1000 or 298c. From the same vendor, the heifer portion of the mob averaging 332kg sold for $890 or 268c,  and a line of predominately Angus x Friesian cows averaging 272kg dressed sold for $1078 or 398c/kg dressed.
