CLEARANCE dropped by eight percentage points to 49pc in an offering of almost 12,000 head on AuctionsPlus last week.

The breeding female offering was up 27pc on the previous week, which affected clearance on the back of PTIC heifers and SM cows and calves, AuctionsPlus network general manager Paul Holm said.

PTIC heifers had a particularly tough week, with a clearance of just 13pc. The four heaviest heifer categories cleared between 36pc and 60pc, while heavier steers 280-400kg+ fared better, clearing between 74pc and 80pc.

There were a lot of southern NSW listings last week, with the majority heading into Queensland.

Processor/lotfeeder activity accounted for just 2.82pc of the sold offering.

Heavier steers 330-400kg lost 6c to average 394c, clearing 80pc, while a smaller offering of heavy feeders +400kg lost 26c/kg to average 360c.

Among the heifer offering, four of the five weight categories were lower, or little changed in price. Heifers 280-330kg produced an offering of 870 head, losing 12c/kg to average 308c, while clearing only 54pc.
