Charters Towers 3 Dec 2025: Prime cattle only sale

With two sales being held this week, numbers were reduced to a yarding of 2050 cattle in a prime only sale. Quality was very mixed, however there was over 950 very good quality grown steers and bullocks penned, the number of cows fell to 600. All regular processors were in attendance and operating along with regular feeders and opportunity restockers. Cattle were drawn from Richmond to Georgetown, east to Ingham and the local area.

Good quality yearling and medium weight grown steers to the trade improved 10c to 25c, heavy steers eased 15c, grown heifers firm to 5c easier and cows averaged 4c to 7c better.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 421c, selling to 440c, steers above 400kg averaged 430c/kg.  A larger sample of heavy yearling steers to processors topped at 448c to average 440c/kg. Medium weight heifers to feed sold to 394c to average 387c, heifers to the trade averaged 376c/kg. Grown steers above 400kg returning to the paddock made to 438c to average 432c, trade types reached 424c to average 413c/kg. Heavy grown steers above 600kg to processors reached 446c to average 432c/kg. Grown heifers to processors sold to from 350c to 386c/kg.

Heavy full mouthed bullocks to export slaughter topped at 434c, most sales from a 390c to 410c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors made to 368c to average 330c, 3 score cows sold to 374c to average 354c/kg. A smaller sample of prime heavyweight 3 and 4 score cows topped at 392c to average 375c to 384c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors sold to 384c/kg.
