Yarding 3046 Change +1546
In very humid conditions, the supply of cattle lifted to 3046 cattle in a combined prime and store sale. Buyer attendance was good with the return of an additional southern processor, feeder and one live exporter. Quality improved on the previous sale with an increased number of prime yearlings, heavy prime steers, more than 1000 cows and nearly 350 bulls. Cattle were drawn from Mt Isa to Croydon and south to The Belyando.
Very strong demand pushed values higher for most categories. Yearling steers to restockers improved 20c to 30c, yearling heifers to the trade lifted 20c to 50c, prime grown steers improved 4c to 23c, prime heifers rose by up to 30c, cows increased 9c to 17c and bullocks were firm to 20c better.
Young restocker steers reached 438c, averaging 393c to 413c, similar heifers to processors made to 396c to average 389c/kg. Light yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to 440c multiple times to average 403c/kg. Steers above 280kg to background sold from 358c to 446c/kg. Yearling heifers above 330kg to feed made to 402c to average 390c, trade heifers sold from 414c to 418c/kg. Yearling steers above 480kg to the trade sold from 438c to 446c, similar heifers to the trade made from 382c to 428c/kg. Prime grown steers above 400kg averaged 417c , selling to 440c, heavy grown steers above 500kg to processors reached 452c multiple times to average 438c to 444c/kg. Prime grown heifers to processors sold from 386c to 430c/kg.
Heavy 4 score bullocks to export slaughter topped at 448c, a good sample averaging 426c to 446c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors reached 374c, averaging 365c, 3 scores sold to 396c to average 375c/kg. A good supply of prime heavyweight cows topped at 418c averaging 394c to 412c/kg. A good supply of heavy bulls to processors sold to 396c/kg.
Cows and calves sold to $1,575 per unit.
