Outside of disrupted Easter and Christmas breaks, this marks the lowest offering since August 2022 when wet conditions and the FMD outbreak had significant impact on listings.
The smaller offering was met with stronger demand as clearance increased by 17 percentage points to 59pc.
Mid weight steers and heifers posted some strong gains and were also keenly sought after with higher than average clearance rates, while NSM cows and calves also recorded rises. Heavy steers and heifers continued to soften.
Steers 200-280kg registered a smaller offering of 629 head and averaged 258c/kg, up 25c/kg or $101 from last week. The clearance rate of 79pc was an improvement over the previous week’s 64pc. Prices ranged from 152 – 315c.
From Hernani, NSW 83 Angus steers 11-13 months averaging 213kg returned $775 or 314c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Sunshine Beach, QLD.
Steers 280-330kg registered a smaller offering of 839 head and averaged 255c – up 27c from last week for a clearance of 84pc. Prices ranged from 192-311c.
From Pirron Yallock, Vic 45 Angus steers 10-12 months averaging 291kg returned $700 or 240c/kg and will travel to a buyer in Hamilton, Vic.
Steers 330-400kg lost another 4c in value, averaging 228c, while steers +400kg averaged 231c, down 9c.
Heifers 200-280kg registered a smaller offering of 563 head and averaged 184c/kg – up 7c from the previous week for a clearance of 50pc. Prices ranged from 149-220c. From Springsure, QLD 48 Angus/Brangus heifers 262kg returned $390/head, or 149c and will travel to a buyer near Blackall, QLD.
Heifers 280-330kg registered a smaller offering of 632 head and averaged 198c/kg – up 11c from the previous week for a clearance of 56pc. Prices ranged from 155-235c. Breeding females
PTIC heifers registered a smaller offering of 231 head and averaged $731. From Dorrigo, NSW 20 Angus heifers 14-16 months averaging 356kg returned $600/head and will travel to a buyer in Nullamanna, NSW.
