Beef, Bling, and Bowtie Ball 2024: A night of celebration and giving back

Beef Central 13/09/2024

More than 270 people people from across the Australian feedlot sector gathered in Toowoomba on Saturday night for the 2024 Women of Lot Feeding Beef, Bling, and Bowtie Ball.

Guest speaker Shane Webcke and emcee Lyndsey Douglas.

Special guest Shane Webke, Channel 7 TV presenter, former NRL footballer, farmer and agricultural advocate, delivered a deeply inspiring talk, drawing insightful parallels between life and football. He emphasised the importance of resilience, highlighting how the biggest challenge is getting back up after tough knocks—especially with the support of mates. He also encouraged people to think of Mental Health as Mental Fitness, as the brain is a muscle and needs to be utilised just like any other muscle in the body.

One of the event’s highlights was the much-anticipated “BEEF UP” Charity Auction.

David and Amy Felsch from Ray White Livestock Dalby, along with auctioneer Sam Greenup, managed to generate significant excitement as seven boxes of prime beef donated by Mort & Co, Bindaree Beef,  Kilcoy Global Foods, Stanbroke x 2, JBS, and Whyalla Beef where auctioned off.

Along with a Firepit donated by Frasers and some Martin’s caps, over $14,550 was raised for the Channel Country Ladies Day, Little Wings, Beyond Blue, Royal Flying Doctor Service, TIACS, and Pankind Australia.

WOLF coordinator Margaret Harrison thanked all who donated and bought items for opening their wallets for such worthy causes.

As in previous years there were multiple opportunities to take home some amazing arrival gifts, lucky door prizes and raffle prizes.

The arrival gifts of beer steins and stemless wine glasses sponsored by Phibro proved to be extremely popular.  Sarah Ray of PF Install Solutions was the lucky winner of the major Lucky Door prize—a Vacation stay at Twin Waters Resort, Sunshine Coast, generously sponsored by AusMeat. A touch of karma seemed to surround the win, as PF Install have consistently supported the event by purchasing a box of beef every year.

Sue Short of Geham took home the major raffle prize, a Traegar Smoker and BBQ, courtesy of Elders Dalby. In a heartwarming twist, Sue has been a dedicated volunteer at the BBB for eight years, tirelessly selling raffle tickets. Her win felt like a fitting reward for her years of service.

Ethan Bielefeld Music kept the energy alive throughout the night.

Martin’s Stock Haulage,  again showed strong support for Women of Lot Feeding by gracing the entrances of the Cathedral with their Pink Mack and newly released Muttley.  These colourful trucks have a commanding presence whether they are parked or hauling along the roads.

The success of the Beef, Bling, and Bowtie Ball was made possible by a network of generous sponsors, including Protein Production Vets, Lallemand, Elders, Phibro, Ausmeat, IOR, Allflex, Coopers, Suncorp, Martins, Frasers, Rotomix, Kerry Schemioneck, Stance Equitec, Beef Central, Reflections Lake Cooby, Rose Hewartson, MDH, Camm Ag Group, Metal Corp, Austasia Animal Products, Zoetis, FodderLink, Condabri Beef, Performance Feeds, Integrated Animal Production, Australian Country Choice, Graincorp, and Feedworks.  A heartfelt thank you to all sponsors and attendees for making the 2024 Beef, Bing, and Bowtie Ball a resounding success, once again demonstrating the power of community and generosity for Women of Lot Feeding.
