Livestock exporter Frontier International Northern has been cleared to recommence cattle exports to Vietnam.
Frontier was one of two Australian exporters temporarily suspended by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources from supplying cattle to Vietnam in mid-July.
The suspension order followed a departmental investigation into Australian export supply chains in Vietnam, after footage emerged of cattle, believed to be Australian, being mistreated in the country.
Following its investigation the Department directed two exporters to cease supply to the Vietnam market until effective measures were put in place to address animal control, traceability and verification processes, and applied additional conditions on another four exporters.
Ruralco announced to the Australian Stock Exchange this morning that the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has now lifted the direction on its live export business Frontier International Northern, allowing FIN to resume the supply of cattle into Vietnam in compliance with additional guidelines provided by DAWR.
In further live export company news today, Wellard Limited has entered another two-day trading halt this morning ahead of the expected announcement of its full year 2016 financial results on Wednesday.
