THE Autumn bull sales circuit is underway across Australia, and both vendors and buyers will be watching the new season market intently to establish whether it picks up where it left off before Christmas.
Reflecting the high level of confidence and record commercial cattle prices across Australia, the 2016 bull selling season set records for average price for all major breeds used across the Australian beef industry. Vendors now will be hoping that momentum carries through to the autumn 2017 sales calendar.
Beef Central’s autumn bull sales coverage commences on Tuesday next week, continuing through to the traditional seasonal close at the end of April.
Specialist stud stock writer Geoff Phillips returns this year to compile his weekly reviews of happenings during the bull selling season – discussing topical issues and results highlights across the industry.
Also returning are Beef Central’s handy and popular directories of Upcoming bull and female sales, and Recently completed sales.
Already our upcoming autumn sales calendar includes 156 sales fixtures between now and the end of April, stretching from as far south as Tasmania, west to Western Australia and north to Blackall, Charters Towers and Rockhampton in Queensland. If you spot any omissions from the list, be sure to contact Geoff Phillips by email at Geoff@beefcentral.com with details.
Both the ‘Upcoming sales’ and ‘Recently completed sales’ lists feature handy search functions, allowing readers to narrow-down lists to specific breeds, regions, stud prefixes, or date ranges.
Combined, these summaries represent Australia’s only comprehensive national database of seedstock sales activity, both upcoming and recently completed, and are developing into a powerful reference tool for historical comparisons.
