Beef Central 30/06/2025

Cattle Australia is commencing a leadership transition, with former Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) Chief Executive Will Evans appointed as its next CEO.

NTCA CEO Will Evans

Mr Evans will commence at CA on 7 July 2025 and will work alongside outgoing CEO, Dr Chris Parker, during a one-month transition period, after which Dr Parker will shift to a part-time role as Strategic Government Liaison.

The transition period will ensure CA continues to deliver impact for its members, levy payers and the wider beef industry.

Well-known and respected across the Australian agricultural sector, Mr Evans is set to lead the CA into its next phase of engagement as the organisation pursues key grass-fed policy and advocacy priorities, including initiating and guiding the cattle transaction levy review.

CA Chair, Garry Edwards, said Mr Evans was appointed following a targeted recruitment process undertaken to ensure a timely and smooth transition. Mr Evans brings extensive experience in cattle industry representation – as well as leading the NTCA, he has worked in live export and national beef cattle policy roles.

“Along with his strong track record in advocacy and industry leadership, Will brings energy and strategic thinking to the organisation,” Mr Edwards said.

“As we continue to implement our strategic plan Towards 2030, Will is well placed to help strengthen the voice of producers and unify our approach nationally. We’re delighted to welcome him to the role.”

Mr Evans said he was honoured to be entrusted to lead CA as it works to shape a bright future for the industry through national policy setting and targeted advocacy.

“Among the many tasks CA undertakes, engaging with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) on the investment of the grass-fed levy is a high priority,” Mr Evans said.

“CA has announced it will be leading a levy review process to ensure that it remains producer-focused, transparent and attuned to the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of our industry.

“I look forward to engaging with cattle producers and industry stakeholders nationally to hear their perspectives on how this can best be achieved.”

The Board acknowledged and thanked Dr Parker, who will step down as CEO on 31 July, having provided steady and professional leadership since November 2023, and guiding the organisation through a critical period of growth, consolidation and positioning.

“Chris has delivered enormously for Cattle Australia during his time as CEO,” Mr Edwards said.

“We’re pleased that he will remain part of our organisation to focus on federal policy engagement — an area where he brings unrivalled expertise and strong relationships.”
