Roma sale 24 June 2025: Well bred weaners and feeders come forward

Once again Roma Agents yarded 8,675 head of some of the better bred weaners and feeders produced in the Maranoa and normal supply district. All the regular processors feedlotters and backgrounders present and active. The market was solid throughout with restocker steers slightly stronger also medium weight domestic steers and feeders. Heavy heifers also in demand but light weight heifers lost ground and cows well supported.

A small number of yearling steers under 200kg cracked 502c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg topped 496c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg sold from 300c to 466c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg improved by 25c/kg to make 444c to average 385c/kg restockers. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg also improved and made to 396c/kg to feed.

Yearling heifers under 200kg improved and sold to 320c to average 297c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg made from 240c to 352c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg topped 344c and averaged 318c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg improved in price and made to 360c to average 330c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg selling from 345c to 370c/kg to feed.

Grown steers and bullocks sold to a cheaper trend. A large number of manufacturing bullocks penned and sold to 330c/kg. Grown steers 400 to 500kg topped 362c/kg. Grown steers 500 to 600kg selling from 308c to 352c/kg. Bullocks over 600kg made to 358c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg sold to 362c/kg.

Approx 1000 cows penned which were well supported. Store cows sold from 150c to 197c/kg back to the paddock. The 2 score cows sold from 200c to 275c/kg. The 3 score cows sold from 220c to 336c/kg. Bulls 450 to 600kg made to 320c and bulls over 600kg to 309c/kg.

A total of 8,675 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 502c/kg and averaged 414c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 496c/kg and averaged 413c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 466c/kg and averaged 411c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 444c/kg and averaged 380c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 400c/kg and averaged 357c/kg.

FI & MJ Taylor, Lying Downs, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 502c/kg, reaching a top of $1,165 to average $1,062.

B & C AG Enterprises, Bogong, Dirranbandi, sold Simmental cross steers to 496c/kg, reaching a top of $1,471 to average $1,339.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 342c/kg, reaching a top of $904 to average $904.

Bates Pastoral Pty Ltd, Bengalla, Wallumbilla sold Angus steers to 456c/kg, reaching a top of $1,397 to average $1,335.

Gwenbrook Grazing, Gwenbrook, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 454c/kg, reaching a top of $1,464 to average $1,208.

Maunder Pastoral Co, Cambow, Amby sold Charolais cross steers to 452c/kg, reaching a top of $1,536 to average $1,408.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 360c/kg, reaching a top of $1,180 to average $1,028.

Loughnan Farming P/L, Avenel, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 450c/kg, reaching a top of $1,387 to average $1,306.  The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 340c/kg, reaching a top of $1,061 to average $941.

Robert Loughnan, Alicker, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 446c/kg, reaching a top of $1,460 to average $1,255.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 344c/kg, reaching a top of $1,184 to average $967.

Alcurah Creek Grazing, Alcurah Creek, Roma sold Charbray steers to 420c/kg, reaching a top of $1,535 to average $1,344.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 370c/kg, reaching a top of $1,554 to average $1,077.  The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 328c/kg, reaching a top of $2,264 to average $1,964.

Billin Grazing, Billin Station, Mungallala, sold Shorthorn steers to 386c/kg, reaching a top of $1,795 to average $1,510.

Compagnoni Grazing Company, Carinya, Mitchell sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 380c/kg, reaching a top of $1,610 to average $1,513.
