Yarding: 5292 Change: +394
On par with last week’s penning over 5000 head of cattle were offloaded at Roma Saleyards as local producers experienced recent beneficial drops across the Maranoa region.
It may have been another rain affected yarding, but the prices remained firm with dearer trends reflected in some categories dependent on condition.
The yarding featured several lines of quality lighter weight heifers and heavy steers, which sold to an active buyers’ presence of processors, backgrounders and feed-lotters.
Lines were once again drawn primarily from the Maranoa and western regions such as Jundah, Hungerford, Thargomindah, McKinlay, Cunnamulla, Quilpie and Longreach among others.
Cattle were also yarded from as far afield as Innamincka, South Australia, Goodooga and Quambone, New South Wales, and Alice Springs, Northern Territory once again highlighting Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.
The steer market may have influenced the yarding on previous weeks, but it was a quality line of heifers who took centre stage today.
