Weekly Roma Store sale press report:

A total of 10,400 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday. Once again, it was a mixed quality yarding that contained some quality lines of local cattle plus western cattle from dry areas of Queensland. All the usual commission buyers were present and some local restocker buyers were operating.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 174c/kg and averaged 151c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 150c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 147c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 169c/kg and averaged 148c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 164c/kg and averaging 151c/kg.

Harland & Humphries, Gladys Downs, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 190c/kg for 299kg to make $569/head.

The Burey family, Springhill, Amby, sold Charolais-cross steers to 190c for 256kg to return $488. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 146c for 280kg to make $409.

The Martyn family, Greenridge, Roma, sold Simmental-cross steers to 179c for 305kg to return $547. They also sold Simmental-cross heifers to 149c for 309kg to make $461.

Malcolm Burey, Back Creek, Amby, sold Charolais-cross steers to 179c for 288kg to return $516. 

The Bauer family, Greendale, Tambo, sold Charolais-cross steers to 175c for 348kg to return $611.

The Tindall family, Macfarlane Downs, Tambo, sold Angus steers to 174c for 231kg to return $403. They also sold Brangus heifers to 138c for 202kg to make $279. 

Danny and Janet Pobar, Dongara, Dunkeld, sold Charolais-cross steers to 170c for 267kg to return $454. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 140c for 239kg to make $335.

Peel Northampton Downs, Blackall, sold Charbray steers to 169c for 286kg to make $485. They also sold Charbray heifers to 145c and averaged 138c for 278kg to return $383. 

Rosehearty Grazing, Morago, Longreach, sold Santa steers to 163c and averaged 160c for 385kg to make $616.

The Lord family, Kilterry, Julia Creek, sold Santa steers to 157c for 374kg to return $587.

The Adams family, Barcaldine, Blackall, sold Brahman steers to 156c for 375kg to make $586. They also sold Brahman-cross heifers to 144c for 271kg to return $391.

The Pezet family, Ard-na-ree, Charleville, sold Santa-cross steers to 156c for 222kg to return $347.

Douglas Cattle Co sold Hereford-cross steers to 155c for 410kg to make $637. Mt Rourke Pastoral Co, Winton, sold Droughtmaster steers to 154c for 468kg to make $721.

The Proud family, Woodstock, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 152c for 568kg to return $864.

Mary Brown, Benalla, Roma, sold Limousin steers to 151c for 337kg to return $510. She also sold Limousin heifers to 138c for 323kg to make $446.

Argylla Mountains Pastoral, Glenco Station, Mt Isa, sold Brangus steers to 130c for 408kg to return $530. They also sold Brangus heifers to 142c for 218kg to make $309.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 144c/kg and averaged 128c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 149c/kg and averaged 118c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 147c/kg and averaged 123c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 148c/kg and averaged 117c/kg.

Dalco Pastoral, Sugarloaf, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 143c for 417kg to return $598.

The Harland family, Blue Lagoon, Injune, sold Limousin-cross heifers to 138c for 351kg to make $485.

Cows over 500kg hit 127c/kg and averaged 103c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 128c/kg and averaged 74c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 105c/kg and averaged 66c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $670/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 148c/kg and average 117c/kg.
