It was another small yarding of 2112 head at yesterday’s Roma Store Sale after recent rain cancelled the previous weeks’ sale.

Cattle were mostly drawn from the local supply area and the yarding included quality lines of steers and heifers. The reduced yarding saw a smaller buying panel present and operating, however not all processors were present.

Overall the market was strong across the yarding with mostly positive movements from the previous fortnight’s sale. The reduced number of cows sold to strong demand.

Lightweight yearling steers less than 280kg to restockers made to 778.2c to average 715c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 716.2c to average 681c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 700.2c to average 631c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 586.2c to average 546c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers were in limited supply and made to 624.2c to average 607c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 640.2c to average 597c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 634.2c to average 602c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to feed reached a top of 594.2c to average 558c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 554.2c to average 503c/kg.

Grown steers to feed reached 472.2c to average 458c/kg. Grown heifers under 540kg made to 414.2c to average 407c/kg. Red tag PTIC grown heifers to restockers sold at open auction to a top of $2,440/head. Medium weight prime cows made to 390.2c to average 387c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 394.2c to average 389c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 378.2c to average 369c/kg. The cows and calves sold to a top of $3,550/unit.
