Roma store 26 June 2018: Kindee steers to 310c

Ian, James, Andrew, Janie and Stuart Murray of Kindee Pastoral Company with Watkins & Co agent Brad Neven with the line of steers that were sold at yesterday’s sale. The steers sold for an impressive 310c/kg, reaching a top of $1,078 to average $917. The heifers sold to 276c/kg, reaching a top of $1,162 to average $767.

 

Yarding 9000 Change 2500

The highlight of the sale was a vendor bred line of close to 1500 head of annual weaner cattle from the Murray family’s Kindee Pastoral Company.

The overall quality of the yarding was generally good and this attracted a larger number of buyers into the saleyards.

Buyers appreciated the large numbers of good quality runs and prices generally improved across a number of categories.

A fair sample of cows were also penned an average prices increased especially the plain condition lines.

The largest number of steer calves returned to the paddock at an average of 283c with some to 308.2c/kg. A large selection of light weight yearling steers sold to restockers an average of 275c with sales to 297.2c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280-330kg range were in demand and averaged 281c with sales to 310.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed or restockers sold around 276c to 281c with some to 300c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed averaged in the early to mid 270c range with sales to 281.2c/kg.

The largest numbers of light weight yearling heifers sold to restockers or backgrounders at an average of 251c and made to 272.2c/kg. Yearling heifers in the 280-330kg range reached a top of 276.2c with the largest numbers at 253c/kg. The better end of the medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 268.2c to average 249c/kg. Heavy weights to the trade reached 249.2c to average 242c/kg.

A handful of bullocks made to 267.2c to average 265c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows sold to restockers at an average of 174c and made to 179.2c/kg. Medium weight 3 scores to processors averaged 186c and made to 188.2c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 216.2c with most around 212c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 249.2c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 308c/kg and averaged 273c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 297c/kg and averaged 274c/kg.

Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 310c/kg and averaged 275c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 300c/kg and averaged 279c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 281c/kg and averaging 268c/kg. Cows and calves hit $1,020/unit.

Golden Pastoral Holdings, Nullin, Yuleba sold Santa cross steers to 297c/kg, reaching a top of $785 to average $724. The Santa cross heifers sold to 258c/kg, reaching a top of $743 to average $668.

Killarney Park Grazing Pty Ltd, Killarney, Tambo sold Santa steers to 291c/kg, reaching a top of $838 to average $752.

Derbyshire Downs Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella sold Santa cross steers to 290c/kg, reaching a top of $1,002 to average $934. The Santa cross heifers sold to 259c/kg, reaching a top of $969 to average $697.
