Big jump in numbers on AuctionsPlus

Young breeders averaged $1455 and sold to a top of $1700 this week, for this line of Poll Hereford cows 4-5 years averaging 543kg from Jamieson, VIC and PTIC to Shorthorn bulls.

 

CATTLE numbers offered on AuctionsPlus spiked this week, more than doubling to 9614 head across three commercial sales.

With an increase of supply and widespread rain starting to fall across parts of the eastern states, registered buyers were encouraged to reconnect to the sales.

Heifer prices were generally stronger this week, while young steers, apart from lightest descriptions, trended down.

Joined heifers averaged $1400 this week and sold to a top of $1950 for a line of 22-24 month old Red Angus heifers averaging 550kg from Traralgon, VIC. These heifers were PTIC to Hicks Red Angus bulls.

A line of Te Mania and Burenda blood Angus heifers 16-20 months averaging 364kg, from Hannaford, central QLD, PTIC to Burenda Angus bulls, sold for $1080.

Young breeders averaged $1455 and sold to a top of $1700. This top price went to a line of Poll Hereford cows 4-5 years averaging 543kg from Jamieson, VIC and PTIC to White Shorthorn bulls.

The top priced proven breeders came from the same vendor, selling for $1560. These girls were 6-7 years old averaging 632kg and PTIC to White Shorthorn bulls.

A line of 4-15 year old Wagyu cows from Blackheath, NSW sold for $2800. These cows weigh 453kg and are PTIC to Wagyu bulls.

First calvers averaged $2082 and sold to a top of $2210 for a line of Dunoon blood Angus cows & calves from Matong, NSW. These cows were 24 to 30 months old averaging 553kg and were re-joined back to Angus bulls. The Angus calves at foot were 2-3 months old weighing from 130kg to 201kg.

Young breeders averaged $1751 and sold to a top of $2050, for a line of Charolais and Charolais cross cows and calves from Emu Swamp, NSW. The cows were Palgrove and Violet Hill bloodlines, aged 2-5 years averaging 547kg and re-joined back to Charolais bulls. The calves at foot are 3-5 months old and average 176kg.
