Yarding 5865 Change -279

Onlookers were plenty, due to a conference to combat the Pimelea weed today at the Roma Store Sale where numbers were down 275 to yard 5,865 head.

Quality was good in the larger runs while several lots were painted out to disperse in different directions.

All buyers were in attendance and operating in a solid and dearer market. The optimism of rain compliments of cyclone Debbie and enough warm weather left in Spring to grow grass was prevalent indicated by the solid restocker market.

Steers less than 280kg made to 440.2c to average 396c/kg. Steers 280-350kg range made to 398.2c to average 358c/kg. Steers over 400kg made to 336.2c to average 333c, while heavy bullocks over 550kg made to 295c to average 285c/kg.

Good heavy cows to slaughter made to 273c while cows with calves at foot made to $1,950/unit. Bulls under 400kg made to 360.2c and those over 400kg made to 310.2c to average 306c/kg.

Steers up to 280kg top at 440c/kg

A total of 5865 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 440c/kg and averaged 401c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range also reached 440c/kg and averaged 386c/kg.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 398c/kg and averaged 357c/kg, and steers in the 350- 400kg range reached 354c/kg and averaged 331c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400- 550kg range topping at 336c/kg and averaging 303c/kg.

I.L & S.F Beard, Redford, Chinchilla, sold Angus steers to 422c/kg for 249kg to return $1053. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 348c/kg for 235kg to return $819.
