Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 22 June 2026

DURING the week, a cold front and complex low pressure system crossed southern Australia and linked up with a cloudband containing moist tropical air, bringing widespread rain, with storms, to the south coast of mainland Australia, western Tasmania, and parts of the interior.

Weekly rainfall totals of 25 to 100 mm, locally higher, were recorded along the south coast of Western Australia, the Agricultural districts of South Australia, western and northern Tasmania, and western, central and alpine regions of Victoria.

Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 50 mm were recorded in parts of the interior, exceeding monthly averages, including a band in central New Wales, western Queensland, northern South Australia and the south of the Northern Territory.

Coastal showers brought weekly rainfall totals of 25 to 50 mm, locally higher, for parts of the New South Wales north-east and the Queensland North Tropical Coast.

Unseasonable showers resulted in weekly rainfall of 10 to 25 mm in the Top End of the Northern Territory around Darwin.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) of 154.0 mm was recorded at Parawa (South Australia).

The highest daily total (at a Bureau gauge) of 104.0 mm was recorded at Promised Land (Bellingen (Crystal Creek)) (New South Wales) in the 24 hours to 9 am on 16 June 2026.
