Former Minerva WA abattoir assets come to market

Beef Central 15/04/2026

TWO mothballed regional Western Australian meat processing facilities previously operated by Minerva Foods Australia have been put to market.

The Great Eastern abattoir near Tammin and Shark Lake, near Esperance will be offered via an expressions of interest campaign via Colliers.

Colliers’ Benjamin Kepes and Sam Hammond have been appointed to handle the sale process.

The Great Eastern abattoir near Tammin closed year, and Shark Lake in 2023.

Great Eastern is export-registered to process lamb, mutton and goat, while Shark Lake is licensed for cattle, goats, lambs and sheep.

Colliers expects interest from established processors, agribusiness operators, investors and groups seeking established regional infrastructure.

The Great Eastern Abattoir near is an established Wheatbelt processing facility positioned on Great Eastern Highway and offered alongside additional accommodation holdings in Tammin.

Shark Lake Abattoir near Esperance comprises a large-scale regional holding across three titles.

Both sites are currently under care and maintenance.

Colliers Benjamin Kepes, executive, Industrial and Logistics said the campaign marked a significant moment for the market.

“These assets are well recognised across Western Australia’s agricultural and processing sectors, and there has been ongoing interest in what their next chapter might look like,” he said.

“This campaign provides clarity,  giving the market a formal opportunity to assess both properties and consider their future potential.”

Located within two of Western Australia’s key agricultural regions – the Wheatbelt and Esperance, the assets are expected to attract broad interest from both industry participants and strategic investors, he said.

“The campaign is anticipated to generate strong attention given the profile of the assets, the scale of existing infrastructure, and the broader focus on regional processing capacity across the state.”

  • The abattoirs will be offered together or individually via an expressions of Interest campaign, closing Friday 15 May.
