A FIELD day at Russell Pastoral Operations’ Champion Station near Blackall on Tuesday, June 30, will give producers a firsthand look at how virtual fencing, genetics and emissions-reduction strategies are being applied in a large-scale commercial grazing business.
Hosted by Zero Net Emissions Agriculture CRC and Russell Pastoral Operations, the free event will showcase learnings from the Champion Station Producer Demonstration Site, with a focus on real-world decision-making across pasture management, breeding and technology.
The field day, titled Managing Cattle Without Boundaries, will run from 9am to 5pm at the Champion Station homestead, followed by sundowners and a barbecue dinner for attendees staying on. People planning to attend are asked to register for free at the link below to ensure catering numbers can be fully met.
A key feature will be a paddock visit to see virtual fencing technology in action, as part of a Meat & Livestock Australia donor company project being delivered with Halter.
The program will also include sessions on improving feed efficiency through genetics, supply chain requirements, and the role of emerging technologies in helping the beef industry work towards net zero emissions.
Speakers include Adam Armstrong, Will Evans, Peter Gall, Joe Grose, Ben Hayes and Claire Mahoney.
Organisations involved include Meat & Livestock Australia, Cattle Australia, AgForce, Rabobank, Elders and Halter.
Organisers say the event will explore how practical innovation can improve productivity while also creating pathways for producers to participate in future sustainability and supply chain reward systems.
The event is free to attend, with smoko, lunch and refreshments provided, however registrations are required, particularly for the post-event dinner.
