The Cattle Australia’s 2026 Board election processed has commenced, with five nominees for two vacancies to bring new representation to the Cattle Australia Board.

Voting Members of Cattle Australia are now able to cast their vote for two Director positions: one from the Northern region and one from the Southern region.

The Northern region seat is currently held by David Foote, the inaugural Chair of Cattle Australia, who has announced he will retire at the end of his current term and will therefore not be seeking re-election.

Mr Foote led Cattle Australia through its establishment as the industry’s new peak body, serving as its first Chair before continuing on the Board as Northern Director.

“I believe the time is right for new representative blood to bring new energy and representative ideas to the Cattle Australia board,” Mr Foote said.

Cattle Australia chair Garry Edwards said Mr Foote’s industry experience will be missed, and that his role as the inaugural chair of the new company was instrumental in the success of transitioning to the new Cattle Australia.

The Southern region seat is currently held by George King, who has also announced he will not be seeking re-election.

“After completing two terms on the CA board I am happy to be opening an opportunity for a new board member to continue with the important work Cattle Australia does for our industry,” Mr King said.

“I wish the new board members and the remaining board of CA all the very best in the years ahead of providing industry representation.”

Mr Edwards thanked Mr King for his strong representation of the southern region.

“Mr King has been on the Board since the formation of Cattle Australia, and we thank him for his commitment to holding the interests of the broader Australian grass-fed cattle industry at its core.”

The nominees for the two Board Director roles are:

• Northern region – Adam Armstrong and Jane McMillan.
  Southern region – Erica Halliday, Mac McArthur and Harry Youngman.

Voting is open now, with all Voting Members eligible to vote on both positions via a secure online ballot conducted by independent returning officer TrueVote.

Voting closes 5pm AEST on Friday 2 October 2026, with results announced at the Cattle Australia Annual General Meeting on Friday 23 October 2026.
