Cattle numbers were slightly higher, with the standout being the excellent condition of the cattle, all considered as either forward store or well finished. Buyers seeking big frame types encountered challenges, often needing to purchase heavier stock than usual or drop their weight. Restockers were notably active, acquiring most cattle under 300kg. There was significant demand for cattle from the Tamworth region, with buyers specifically looking for steers and heifers under 400kg. The presence of a large field of buyers, all holding extra orders, contributed to a particularly dynamic market.

Cattle suitable for trade were predominantly purchased by feedlots. Stock sold to domestic processors in the 400-500kg range fetched prices between 470-556c/kg. Feeder steers in light and medium weight range faced robust competition, leading to a price uptick of 18-20c, with medium weights selling between 440-582c/kg. As the sale progressed, feeder heifer prices improved, especially as some buyers entered the market midway through. Medium weight feeder heifers increased by 25c, making between 485-535c/kg. Light weight steers, weighing 200-280kg, gained 70c, averaging $1589/head

In the cow sale, the quality was very good, and leaner cows were scarce due to substantial feed growth across the supply area. Heavy cows sold at firm prices, ranging from 395-435c/kg. Leaner cows under 530kg were rare, with the few available selling from 354-390c/kg. Heavy steers and bullocks intended for processors were limited, with feedlots dominating this category. Heavy steers and bullocks suitable for processors sold for prices between 440-522c/kg, while heavy heifers ranged from 460-476c/kg, with those meant for feeding reaching a top price of 492c/kg. Heavy feeder steers old from 460-552c/kg.
