As warmer weather sets in, cattle numbers increased. The yarding was mixed, with some cattle coming from cooler regions, providing feedlots with plenty of frame and these stock were highly sought. The remaining stock was in excellent condition, attracting considerable interest from feedlots. However, most categories experienced a notable price correction, particularly affecting feeder types, while restockers sought to capitalize on the lower prices. Meanwhile, domestic and export processors remained relatively quiet.

Trade buyers were sporadic, with steers and heifers trading between 470-534c/kg. The market for feeder heifers was especially volatile, leading to inconsistent price outcomes. Lighter weight feeder heifers saw a decline of 50c, pricing between 380-495c/kg. In contrast, medium weight feeder heifers recovered slightly, selling 22-43c lower at 470-528c/kg. Light-weight feeder steers fell 33c, although restockers helped to stabilize prices, with light weights priced from 470-560c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers also saw a drop of 30c, particularly with coloured cattle facing heavy discounts, resulting in prices ranging from 455-548c/kg. Light-weight steers weighing 200-280kg returning to the paddock sold for 44c less, achieving prices of 498-585c/kg.

On the export front, cattle primarily went to lot feeders. Heavy steers and bullocks suitable for processors fetched between 421-490c/kg. Heavy cows were well supplied but faced weak competition, leading to a 21c drop in prices, with most selling from 375-415c/kg, and a significant number below 405c/kg. Leaner cattle weighing under 520kg were priced between 340-392c/kg.
