NLRS Commentary:
Roma Agents combined to yard 9715 head. The yarding consisted of some of good quality weaners and feeders bred in the Maranoa and Warrego and surrounding supply district. All the regular buyers attending with southern influence present and active. The market was solid to dearer for all categories especially store cows back to the paddock.
Yearling steers under 200kg topped 616c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg sold from 300c to 632c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg made from 358c to 616c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg made to 612c to average 560c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg made 578c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg sold to 510c to Lot Feeders and 460c/kg to backgrounders
Yearling heifers under 200kg topped 488c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 368c to 500c to Lot Feeders and 526c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg selling from 300c to 546c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 558c/kg to backgrounders to average 465c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg sold to 478c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling heifers over 480kg sold to 408c/kg to processors.
Grown steers 400 to 500kg sold to 458c/kg to Lot Feeders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 552c/kg to Lot Feeders. Grown steers over 600kg made to 462c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg sold to 540c/kg to processors.
Another large consignment of cows penned. The 3 score cows over 520kg sold to 412c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold to 368c to average 354c/kg. Bulls 450 to 600kg topped 460c to processor and 474c/kg to restockers. Bulls over 600kg made to 460c/kg to processors.

Highlights
The Roma Saleyards was abuzz with action at this week’s Tuesday cattle sale – while the weather cooled off, the competition remained hot with many good lines of cattle fetching firm results.
There were people and cattle aplenty, the laneways and walkways were filled to the brim and over 9700 head penned to go under the hammer.
Buyers, feedlotters and backgrounders competed for the yarding, which saw an increase of more than 1,200 head recorded on last week’s sale.
Once again, the offering travelled from near and far to go to market.
Cattle were drawn from across the Maranoa supply district including Injune, Mitchell, Roma, Surat, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.
Further across Queensland, cattle came from Wandoan and Taroom in the east, from Augathella, Blackall, Cunnamulla, Ilfracombe and Tambo in the west and from Glenmorgan and St George in the south.
In the northern parts of the Sunshine State, consignments travelled down from Kynuna and McKinlay.
Cooba Cattle Co sold one pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers at this week’s sale.
Operating out of ‘Cooba’, Glenmorgan, the pen fetched 592c/kg, to weigh 250kg and return $1,480/hd.

Mark & Carolyn Redgen of ‘The Rockies’, Roma, sold three pens of Red Angus cross steers and one pen of Charolais cross steers at this week’s sale and they all fetched 588c/kg.
Altogether the cattle averaged 295kg and returned $1,736/hd.
One pen of Red Angus cross steers weighed in at 347kg and received $2,043/hd.
Another pen of Red Angus cross steers averaged 305kg and returned $1,794/hd.
The pen of Charolais cross steers weighed 264kg and made $1,557/hd.
The line was consigned through MAA Livestock & Property.
Campbell Pastoral Holdings offloaded Santa Gertrudis steers which sold to 612c/kg, to average 230kg and receive $1,411/hd.
Operating out of ‘Currawarra’, Mitchell, one pen of Santa Gertrudis steers fetched 616c/kg to weigh 260kg and return $1,605/hd.
Two further pens of Santa Gertrudis steers sold to 612c/kg with the heaviest pen weighing in at 230kg and receiving $1,411/hd.

Johnson Grazing Enterprises of ‘Alice Ridge’, Augathella, sold steers at this week’s sale, selling to 594c/kg to average 276kg and receive $1,640/hd.
One pen of Shorthorn cross steers and one pen of Charolais cross steers both sold to 608c/kg.
The Shorthorn cross steers weighed in at 274kg and made $1,671/hd and the Charolais cross steers weighed in at 274kg and returned $1,670/hd.
Two pens of Simmental steers fetched 596c/kg, with the heavier pen averaging 324kg and making $1,936/hd.

A total of 9715 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 616c/kg and averaged 564c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 632c/kg and averaged 580c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 616c/kg and averaged 580c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 612c/kg and averaged 548c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 578c/kg and averaged 541c/kg.
