Roma sale 6 October: Market solid throughout for larger 9500 head yarding

NLRS Commentary:

With scattered showers predicted Roma Agents penned 9591 head including over 5000 steers, 2600 heifers and 1800 cows and bulls yarded. The quality mixed with a large percentage of cattle with high content. All the regular buyers attending and active on the suitable lines. The market solid throughout similar to last sale.

Yearling steers under 200kg topping 520c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg sold from 394c to 584c/kg for the better pens. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg selling to 592c/kg to backgrounders and 494c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg with Lot Feeders paying to 540c and 576c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold from 470c to 562c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg made to 532c/kg to Lot Feeders.

Yearling heifers under 200kg topping 398c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 306c to 458c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg selling to 482c to backgrounders and 456c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg with Lot Feeders paying to 440c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg made to 438c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers over 480kg made to 462c/kg to backgrounders.

Grown steers 400 to 500kg sold to 520c/kg to Lot Feeders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg made to 514c/kg to Lot Feeders. Bullocks over 600kg sold to 492c/kg to processors. Heifers over 540kg made to 446c to Lot Feeders and 436c/kg to processors.

A large number of cows penned which included runs of vendor bred cows. A pen of young heavy Angus cows score 3 made to 400c/kg to processors, with the remainder selling from 326c to 389c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg made from 270c to 384c/kg to processors. Bulls over 600kg made to 446c/kg to processors.
