Yarding 5730 Change -2584

NLRS Commentary:

Numbers fell by 3,000 head to 5,730 at Roma this week with 2,100 steers included in the line up. While an increase in the number of heavy grown steers saw extra competition from all the usual exporters, a reduction in the number of feeder steers over 400kg and a plainer yarding of yearlings, saw prices for younger cattle ease on last week.

Restocker orders from central west NSW pushed locals along on steers 200 to 280kg however prices eased 10 to 15c with a top of 574.2c to average 521c/kg. Steers 280 to 330kg held firm also selling to 574.2c to average 538c/kg. Medium weight steers to feed sold to similar rates as last week, making to 532.2c to average 528c/kg. A limited numbers of heavy feeder steers over 400kg made to 540.2c to average 512c/kg and those over 480kg to feed sold to 536.2c/kg.

Southern orders supported light weight restockers heifers selling to 478.2c for those 280 to 330kg to average 420c while those to feed over 400kg made to 482.2c to average 420c/kg.

An increase in the number and quality of grown steers saw an improvement of up to 20c for steers 500 to 600kg to the processor with a  top price of 488.2c to average 456c and those over 600kg made to 486.2c/kg.

The cow run was made up of a greater number of store cows with restockers paying up to 352.2c to average 318c, while medium weight cows to the processor lost ground selling to 380.2 to average 360c/kg. Heavy 3 score cow made to 382.2c to average 370c and heavy 4 score cows sold to 400.2c to average 386c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 446.2c to average 420c/kg.
