Roma was again at the forefront of cattle sales this week with Agents yarding 11,092 head. A quality offering was presented, highlighted by an increase in lighter weight weaners and cattle in lighter condition.
Yearling steers under 200kg sold from 375c to 570c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg made from 326c to 608c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg made to 602c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg sold to 610c to Lot Feeders and 608c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg selling from 474c to 610c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg made to 582c/kg to Lot feeders.
Yearling heifers under 200kg sold from 340c to 470c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg made from 300c to 556c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg made to 530c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg sold to 540c to lot feeders and 536c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg also made 540c/kg to Lot feeders. Yearling heifers over 480kg made to 434c/kg to processors.
Grown steers 400 to 500kg selling from 380c to 498c/kg to backgrounders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg sold to 486c to processors to average 420c/kg. Bullocks over 600kg made from 400c to 474c/kg to processors. Bullocks over 750kg making to 448c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg with the score 3s selling to 444c/kg to processors and the score 2s selling to 472c/kg to Lot Feeders.
A strong yarding of prime cows penned. The 3 score cows over 520kg sold to 408c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg made to 366c/kg to average 336c/kg to processors. Bulls 450 to 600kg with the processors paying from 390c to 450c/kg. Bulls over 600kg making to 440c/kg to processors.

Highlights
It was a busy day filled with busy laneways as buyers, lotfeeders and backgrounders competed for the offering of over 11,000 head.
As normal, cattle travelled from near and far to go under the hammer at the Roma Saleyards.
Throughout the local Maranoa supply district consignments were drawn from Injune, Mitchell, Roma and Yuleba.
Cattle travelled from Condamine, Drillham, Miles, Taroom and Wandoan in the east, from Augathella, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Innamincka, Quilpie, Tambo and Winton in the west and from McKinlay in the north to go to market.
Steer offerings
K.C. Chandler T/A Glentulloch Grazing sold steers at this week’s sale, selling to 553c/kg to average 285kg and receive a return of $1,579/hd.
Operating out of ‘Glentulloch’, Injune, three pens of Simbrah cross steers fetched 564c/kg, with the heaviest pen weighing in at 246kg and making $1,388/hd.
Two more pens of Simbrah cross steers made 558c/kg, with one pen averaging 338kg and returning $1,888/hd and the other pen weighing 344kg and receiving $1,924.
The lines were consigned through Nutrien Ag Solutions Roma.
RW & KE Thorne sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 536c/kg, to average 257kg and receive $1,380/hd.
Operating out of ‘Holmleigh’, Mitchell, one pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers fetched 538c/kg, weighing in at 280kg and returning $1,508/hd.
Another pen of Santa Gertrudis cross steers sold to 546c/kg to weigh 224kg and make $1,224/hd.
The line was consigned through PJH Livestock & Property.
Warkon Grazing Company sold steers to 507ckg to average 334kg and return $1,697/hd.
Based out of ‘Warkon’, Yuleba, one pen of Angus steers fetched 514c/kg, weighing in at 291kg and making $1,498/hd.
The line was consigned through Elders Roma.

A total of 11,092 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 570c/kg and averaged 517c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 608c/kg and averaged 540c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 608c/kg and averaged 537c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 610c/kg and averaged 511c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 610c/kg and averaged 478c/kg.
DW & CE Collinson, West Myall, Roma sold Angus steers to 608c/kg, reaching a top of $2,524 to average $1,719. The Angus heifers sold to 516c/kg, reaching a top of $2,280 to average $1,160.
DG & AM Gadsby, Lowood, Morven sold Angus steers to 600c/kg, reaching a top of $1,526 to average $1,526.
SD & MJ Russell, Willara, Augathella sold Charolais cross steers to 586c/kg, reaching a top of $2,500 to average $1,737. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 524c/kg, reaching a top of $1,870 to average $1,296.
