Yarding 7200 Change +3800
7200 cattle were scanned in Gunnedah a big increase of 3800 against the short week last week. It was a fair quality yarding with large numbers of cows again. All major buyers were active as well as an increase of southern orders. Following the trend secondary cattle were overall cheaper while heavy quality cattle remained strong.
Young cattle to the trade were limited. The steers made from 412c to 440c/kg while the heifers made from 290c to 465c/kg. Yearling steers to feed gained 15c to 20c/kg and made between 432c and 525c/kg to average 496c/kg. The heifers ranged between 382c and 466c/kg. Light steers to the restocker made between 340c and 515c/kg while the heifers made between 265c and 438c/kg.
Prime grown cattle were limited. The steers made to 460c/kg and the heifers made to 435c/kg. Restocker cows felt the benefit of increased competition they made from 200c to 334c/kg. Score 2 and 3 cows to the processor made from 225c to 346c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows were 5c cheaper. They made between 312c and 375c/kg and bulls topped at 389c/kg.
