Yarding 6052 Change +1175

Cattle numbers at Dalby increased by 1175 head to 6052. The number of cows penned also lifted to 1236 along with 2,317 heifers. Buyer attendance was good with representatives covering all classes including restocker buyers from central New South Wales
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were in demand and averaged 17c to 30c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market received gains of 30c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted in price by 15c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers experienced a wide variation in price as buyers were very selective. The lighter end of the yearling heifers to feed also struggled and lost around 12c/kg. However top end quality lines in the medium and heavy weight range improved in price. A fair selection of bullocks averaged 7c/kg dearer. Cows were generally dearer the medium weight plain condition lines were keenly sought after by restockers and prices lifted by 30c/kg. The medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 8c/kg dearer and the heavy weight 3 and 4 score cows sold to a market 4c to 7c/kg better.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 678c and averaged 566c to 576c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed 619c with the largest numbers around 574c to 582c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 626c and averaged 557c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to an isolated 534c with most sales around 480c and lesser quality lines 397c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 566c and averaged form 503c to 529c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 518c and made to the occasional 578c/kg.
A fair sample of bullocks averaged 461c and made to 494c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows sold to restockers at an average of 356c with sales to 369c/kg. The medium weight 2 scores to processors made to 360c to average 347c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 371c and the best of the cows made to 396c to average 387c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 460c/kg some returning $4,443/head.
