Yarding 4540 Change -1300

Isolated falls of light rain across parts of the supply area contributed to a reduction in cattle numbers at Dalby, with supply declining by 1300 head to 4540. Cow numbers also eased to 788 head while bull numbers remained relatively high at 413 head. A fair panel of buyers was present however the southern export processors of the previous weeks were absent.

The market overall experienced mixed results. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold close to the previous level. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 10c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to fair market. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were noticeably dearer and averaged 10c/kg dearer and considerably more in places. Most export processors classes of heavy grown steers bullocks and cows sold to cheaper trend with good heavy cows 10c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 571c with the largest numbers from 531c to 523c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made 548c and averaged around 516c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to top 568c with a good sample at 536c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 468c with a good sample averaging from 413c to 414c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 430c to 444c and sold to 480c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made 504c in a numbers of occasions to average 461c and 480kg lines reached 502c to average 490c/kg.

Grown steers and bullocks to export processors made to 480c and averaged 464c to 477c/kg. Very plain condition cows to restockers averaged 285c and better condition lines averaged 337c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows to export processors averaged 367c and the best of the cows made to 387c to average 381/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 445c/kg some returning $5,056/head.
