Yarding 8847 Change +661

Cattle numbers continued to rise at Dalby, with agents yarding 8847 an increase of 661 head on the previous sale. Cow numbers also lifted with 2402 penned. Overall the increased supply provided buyers with a good selection of cattle across most categories.
Export buyer attendance was good and a Victorian processor was the major buyer on the heavy cows. The regular feed and trade buyers were also active in the market along with local and interstate restockers.
Light weight yearling steers and heifers struggled under the sheer weight of numbers however greater losses would have occurred without the support of central New South Wales restocker operators.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed lost ground in places however heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to a very solid market.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed could not maintain the levels of the previous week while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed experienced very little change in price.
Plain condition cows sold to a dearer market of 2c to 6c/kg with strong competition from both restockers and processors. Heavy weight 3 and 4 score cows sold to within 2c to 5c/kg of the previous weeks level. Heavy weight bulls were dearer.
