Yarding 4877 Change -500

The first sale in the new financial year at Dalby attracted 500 head less at 4877. The number of cows penned also reduced to 726 head along with 311 bulls. Buyer representation was good and the southern feed and restocker operators of the previous week returned.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to strong demand to experience only quality related price changes. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed followed a similar trend. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 14c and up to 40c/kg better. Yearling heifers to feed averaged 8c dearer and over 30c/kg in places. However export classes of heavy grown steers bullocks and cows could not maintain the levels of the previous sale and lost 2c to 5c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 611c with a good sample averaging from 545c to 549c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 590c and averaged 538c to 544c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 580c and averaged 542c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock were well supplied and despite the large numbers prices improved with sales to 544c with most around 485c to 486c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 495c to 516c and sold to 558c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to a top of 564c and averaged 495c/kg.
A fair sample of bullocks averaged 454c and made to 480c and full mouth bullocks averaged 431c and sold to 437c/kg. Grown heifers made to 448c and averaged 446c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 355c and averaged 339c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 364c and the best of the cows averaged 383c with the very occasional sale to 400c/kg with some making $3,052/head. Heavy weight bulls sold to 467c/kg.
