Yarding 1850 Change -3

Numbers lifted by 150 for a yarding of 2005 cattle in a Combined Prime and Store sale. Quality was mixed with good numbers of prime bullocks, isolated pens of cows and mixed runs of young cattle to suit feeders and restockers. Two additional processors were in attendance and operating, supported by regular feeders and one live exporter. Cattle were drawn from Mt Isa to Georgetown, local and coastal areas.

Grown steers and heifers to the trade lifted 5c to 30c. Bullocks improved 6c to 18c, medium weight cows rose 15c to 20c and prime heavyweight cows averaged 33c better.

Very good quality weaned vealer steers to backgrounders sold to strong demand reaching 472c to average 463c/kg. Young heifers to processors reached 336c to average 294c/kg. A limited supply of yearling steers above 330kg to feed averaged 369c, best quality steers to background made to 450c to average 394c/kg. Yearling heifers above 280kg to the trade sold from 280c to 342c, heifers above 330kg sold to 356c to average 339c/kg. Grown steers above 400kg to feed sold from 322c to 360c, trade types averaged 364c/kg. Heavy grown steers to processors made from 376c to 404c//kg. A good supply of grown heifers to processors lifted on last sale selling from 322c to 394c/kg.

Heavy full mouthed bullocks to export slaughter topped at 404c, most sales from 368c to 396c/kg. Less than 450 cows were penned selling to improved rates. Medium weight 3 score cows to processors sold from 304c to 368c, a good sample of prime heavyweight cows topped at 370c to average 354c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors reached 374c/kg.
