Yarding 1157 Change -973

The supply of cattle fell by more than 950 for a yarding of 1157 cattle in a prime only sale. Quality was mixed comprising of one large line of heavy prime bullocks, reduced numbers of prime heifers and several small lines of cows.  The regular buyer panel was active on suitable pens in line with recent grid adjustments. Cattle were drawn from Mt Isa to Georgetown and south to The Belyando and local area.

There were insufficient yearling cattle to reliably quote. Grown steers above 400kg to the trade sold to 362c to average 354c, heavy grown steers averaged 356c/kg. The supply of grown heifers was dominated by one line from the north, averaging 333c, best heavy types to processors reached 352c/kg.

One large line of heavy 3 and 4 score full mouthed bullocks to export slaughter topped at 364c, to average 357c to 360c/kg. A significantly reduced offering of prime cows met intermittent demand throughout. Medium weight 3 score cows sold from 260c to 326c, a good sample averaging 305c/kg. A good sample of prime heavyweight 3 and 4 score cows topped at 346c to average from 313c to 335c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors made to 344c.
