SET out below is a summary of closure dates for the 2025 season and opening dates for 2026 for larger beef export plants across the country.

Dates referenced are to the last/first killfloor shift, with last/first boning room shifts mostly taking place the following day.

Closures are commonly used for routine maintenance, with a few larger projects like replacement boiler installations happening at some sites this summer, Beef Central is told.

The encroachment of grainfed kills into some rosters is seeing shorter seasonal breaks this year in some cases. Service kill requirements for major national supermarkets also require kills during the off-season at some sheds.

Unless stated, the closure date refers to final kilfloor shift, with final boning room shift often the following day.
