Webinar to explore the transition away from 3G network

Beef Central, 29/04/2024

THE National Farmers’ Federation’s Regional Tech Hub will next week be joined by the country’s biggest telecommunication companies to explore the transition away from the 3G network.

Telstra is planning to switch off its 3G network from 30 June 2024, and Optus from 1 September 2024.

“The shutdown of 3G networks by Telstra and Optus, and their transition to 4G and 5G technologies, is approaching fast,” the NFF said.

“As with all technology changes, there is a risk it may come with changes in service levels.”

Representatives from Telstra, Optus and the Regional Tech Hub will join a webinar next week and will be taking questions about the transition.

The NFF said it knew the switch off was necessary to enhance connectivity, there were also questions and concerns, particularly for those living and working in rural, regional, and remote Australia.

  • The webinar will be held at 12 noon tomorrow.
