The Darwin-based association which represents licenced Australian livestock exporters, road and maritime transport and logistics businesses, accredited livestock veterinarians, fodder specialists and quarantine yard operators has announced the appointment of a CEO following a nationwide recruitment process.
Northern Territory Livestock Exporters Association chair Nick Thorne told Beef Central this week that Patrick Moran has been appointed to the position of CEO of the association.
Prior to taking on his new position Patrick served as policy adviser to the current Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Hon Lia Finocchiaro MLA.
In that role he provided policy advice in the areas of agriculture, major projects, justice, police and other portfolio responsibility areas.
Patrick has also previously served a project officer for NT Farmers, overseeing a Commonwealth Grant to develop strategies to reduce the burden of regulatory compliance for producers in the Top End.
Before relocating to the Northern Territory in 2015, Patrick practiced as a lawyer and barrister in the United States prosecuting securities and consumer fraud actions.
He attended the University of Iowa where he earned a BA in Economics, as well as Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he earned a Juris Doctor degree and an MBA with an emphasis in accounting.
Patrick has also undertaken graduate studies at the University of New England and Charles Darwin University.
Mr Thorne said the executive and the members were elated to announce Patrick Moran as the CEO of the NTLEA.
“In what has been a very productive year for the NTLEA’s membership this appointment shall further strengthen the associations position.
“We are leaders in the international agricultural trade and having such and experienced campaigner on board such as Patrick Moran bodes well for the future.”
