The sale reflected significant drop in numbers, largely influenced by widespread rain across the supply area. While the weather presented challenges for many producers, it also led to a mixed quality supply of cattle, with some excellent grain-assisted cattle weighing between 400-500kg making a notable impact on the market. Most of the usual buyers were present at the sale, contributing to a competitive sale. However, the big price jumps in certain categories resulted in some buyers being priced out of the market, highlighting the strength at the sale. One of the standout features of the market was the cow sale, which experienced substantial price lifts of 50 cents common across various categories.

In terms of trade, steers and heifers were reasonably supplied, with nearly all being grain-assisted. The price range for steers and heifers weighing between 400-500kg varied from 388-472c/kg. However, the quality in the feeder steer market did not match the exceptional runs of vendor bred seen in the previous week, which led to some variability in pricing. Light-weight feeder steers weighing between 330-400kg sold well, ranging from 430- 504c/kg. Medium weights remained firm, with prices from 440-504c, while heavy feeder steers topped at 465c/kg. Feeder heifers were in shorter supply, and the lighter weights 340-400kg saw a price increase of 20c, selling between 400-458c/kg.

On the export front, there were very few steers available that met the specific requirements of export processors, with sales ranging from 432-465c/kg. Meanwhile, heavy cows were keenly sought after, achieving prices between 400-440c/kg. Leaner cows, particularly those under 520kg, sold within a range of 290-390c/kg, showcasing the  market dynamics.
