This run of 80 Rennylea bloodline Angus feeder steers 14-16 months averaging 423kg from Walcha NSW will be included in tomorrow’s inaugural Stocklive online auction.
AUCTIONSPLUS’s market dominance in the online livestock trading space will come under challenge tomorrow, when Stocklive opens its inaugural online cattle sale.
The first sale will include some attractive larger lines of cows and calves, PTIC females, feeder steers and backgrounder steers totalling 440 head. Quality cattle from the New England are well-represented, plus lines from as far south as Holbrook, and north to Blackall in Central Western Queensland.
“What’s exciting for our inaugural sale is that the catalogue is all made up of quality, larger lines,” Stocklive manager Libby Tyrell told Beef and Sheep Central.
“Offering size ranges from 89 to 28 head – not dribs and drabs.”
Ms Tyrell said pre-sale indications suggested bidding interest would come from a wide area.
“The exciting thing is that we are getting a lot of phone calls from lotfeeders and processors, keen to engage – especially with the bigger lines on offer,” she said.
“There’s also been good pre-sale producer interest, especially in the cows and calves, for restocking.”

The sale will operate differently from Elders and Nutrien’s AuctionsPlus methodology, using what’s known as staggered lot closing. Every lot will have its own individual time before closing, with one-minute bid extensions. Once there are no more active bidders, that lot will close-off.
The sale opens for bidding at 11am AEST tomorrow (Thursday), and remains open for 24 hours, meaning lots start to ‘close’ (depending on level of individual lot bidding activity) from 11.01am on Friday.
For stakeholders who already have an account with Stocklive, they do not need to register again to participate in bidding, simply logging in to the sale like any other auction. For those who do not have an account, they can go to the Stocklive website and register.
Sale results will appear on Beef Central each alternate Friday afternoon.
Cattle sales will be held on a fortnightly basis, going forward, with sheep sales on alternate weeks, scheduled to start early in the New Year.
Owned and operated by AAM, Stocklive’s primary role up to now has been in the provision of a digital remote bidding interface for weekly commercial cattle sales and stud cattle sales held in selling centres and on-property across the country each year. The business started in 2017, having absorbed the former Elite Livestock Auctions interface business.
Following recent accreditation work, Stocklive now has about 30 endorsed assessor agents on the ground, across the three eastern mainland states, with more about to complete their accreditation.
Albury Wodonga stock agent David Benson, Ray White Rural, has clients with several lots of feeder steers in the inaugural sale.
“I’ve always been keen to support new technologies in the ag industry, having supported online selling for more than 35 years,” Mr Benson said.
“What I like about the Stocklive online platform is that its simple to list stock; it is fast to finish; and the platform is facilitated by an experienced online saleyard operator, selling under the Australian Livestock and Property Agents’ terms and conditions,” he said.
“I’d encourage livestock producers, buyers and agents to log-on on Friday, and support competition.”
