Roma sale 6 Dec 2022: Prices respond to smaller yarding

Beef Central, 07/12/2022

Yarding 3590 Change -2430

A combination of the recent reduction in prices and some good falls of rain across parts of the supply area reduced the number of cattle at the Roma store sale down by 2,430 head to 3,590. Cattle were drawn from a wide area of state from Mount Isa to Thargomindah as well as the local supply areas. Buyer attendance was good however some of the regulars were absent. Prices responded to the short supply and selected lines improved in places. However the remainder were without much change in price, with restockers the major buyers in the young cattle section. Cows generally lost a further 10c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 608c to average 563c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280 to 330kg range returning to the paddock made to 580c to average 516c and feeder lines sold to 546c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers mostly sold to restockers at an average of 495c and sold to 560c and the feeder classes averaged 480c/kg.
