Roma sale 14 Nov 2023: Prices improve with lift in quality

Cattle were drawn from far Western Queensland and the local supply area.

The regular processors operating as well as feedlotters and backgrounders.

A lift in the quality improved prices considerably.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 324c to average 288c/kg.Yearling steers 200 to 280kg topped at 322c to average 307c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg averaged 296c topping at 326c with an increase of 40c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg returning to the paddock made to 312c to average 280c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg to feed averaged 255c and topping at 266c/kg. Yearling steers over 480kg to feed topped at 258c to average 252c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 220c and averaged 197c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed topped at 244c and average 209c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg also topped at 240c/kg to average 208c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg to feed made to 210c and averaged 196c/kg. Yearling heifers over 400kg averaged 205c made to 220c/kg.

Manufacturing steers topped 202c/kg . Grown steers 500 to 600kg averaged 212c topping at 218c and the 600kg plus topped at 220c to average 215c/kg. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg made from 130c to 191c to average 150c/kg. Preg Tested cows over 520kg topped at 228c/kg. The 3 score cows to processor sold to 218c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls to 230c and bulls 450 to 600kg to 236c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 318c/kg and averaged 304c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 324c/kg and averaged 293c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 326c/kg and averaged 305c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 316c/kg and averaged 275c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 266c/kg and averaged 227c/kg.
