Yarding: 2100 Change: -5159
The recent wet weather may have resulted in a reduced yarding of just over 2100 head consigned to go under the hammer at this week’s sale, but it didn’t deter from the strong market.
Many of the regular buyers, lotfeeders backgrounders present and competing for the yarding which hailed from Queensland and New South Wales.
Across the Maranoa supply district, cattle were drawn from areas such as Injune, Mitchell, Roma and Surat.
The yarding was also consigned from further afield, to western and southern regions including Adavale, Aramac, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Tambo and Wyandra in western Queensland, and Goodooga in New South Wales.
Barbara Plains Grazing Co offloaded Simmental cross steers and Simmental cross heifers.
Operating out of ‘Barbara Plains’, Wyandra, the steers sold to 599c/kg, averaging 287kg and receiving a return of $1,724/hd.
Three pens of Simmental cross steers fetched 608c/kg, with the heavier pen weighing in at 312kg and making $1,901/hd.
Another pen of Simmental cross steers sold for 542c/kg, to weigh 380kg and receive $2,060/hd.
Barbara Plains Grazing Co’s heifers made 442c/kg, weighing 264kg and making $1,171/hd.
One pen of Simmental cross heifers fetched 454c/kg to average 278kg and make $1,264/hd.
The lines were consigned through Ray White Rural Roma.
Stanyer Partnership of ‘Coolatah’, Charleville, sold a run of Droughtmaster cross heifers for 428c/kg to weigh 298kg and receive a return of $1,279/hd.
Two pens of Droughtmaster cross heifers sold for 446c/kg, with one of the pens weighing 318kg and averaging $1,420/hd.
Another pen of Droughtmaster cross heifers fetched 430c/kg, weighing in at 332kg and making $1,428/hd.
The line was consigned through Grant Daniel and Long Roma.
NLRS Commentary:
With the wet weather about Roma agents yarded very reduced numbers to 2124 head in including consignments from NSW. Export operators as well as restockers and Lot feeders operating. The market stronger for all descriptions.
Yearling steers up to 330kg topped 608c/kg to restockers Yearling steers 330 to 400kg made from 348c to 566c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold to 500c/kg to restockers.
Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold to 464c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg topped 454c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg to 446c to average 422c/kg to Lot feeders. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg sold to 444c/kg to processors.
Only a small number of grown steers penned which made to 466c/kg to processors. Heavy heifers over 540kg to 430c/kg to processors. Also a small number of cows penned with the 3 score cows over 520kg selling to 405c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold from 240 to 366c/kg to processors. Bulls over 600kg to 424c/kg to processors.

A total of 2124 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 608c/kg and averaged 545c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 608c/kg and averaged 541c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 608c/kg and averaged 522c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 566c/kg and averaged 482c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 500c/kg and averaged 472c/kg.
Barbara Plains Grazing Co, Barbara Plains, Wyandra sold Simmental cross steers to 608c/kg, reaching a top of $2,060 to average $1,724. The Simmental cross heifers sold to 454c/kg, reaching a top of $1,507 to average $1,171.
DJ & JF Goodman, Eulalie, Mungindi sold Angus cross steers to 608c/kg, reaching a top of $1,372 to average $1,257. The Angus cross heifers sold to 464c/kg, reaching a top of $1,194 to average $854.
Todd Grazing Enterprises, Brigalow Downs, Bollon sold Simmental cross steers to 604c/kg, reaching a top of $1,873 to average $1,612.
Brenda Station, Goodooga sold Angus cross steers to 576c/kg, reaching a top of $1,876 to average $1,686.
Andrew Paynter, Bronte, Charleville sold Angus cross steers to 556c/kg, reaching a top of $2,034 to average $1,576.
DM & SE Wehl, Ravenswood Station, Aramac sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 556c/kg, reaching a top of $1,854 to average $1,412.
Ravenswood Pastoral Company, Ravenswood Station, Aramac sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 558c/kg, reaching a top of $1,872 to average $1,463.
Heifers under 200kg topped at 456c/kg and averaged 432c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 464c/kg and averaged 411c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 446c/kg, averaging 410c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 430c/kg, averaging 404c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 448c/kg, averaging 430c/kg.
Stanyer Partnership, Coolatah, Charleville sold Droughtmaster cross heifers to 446c/kg, reaching a top of $1,657 to average $1,279.
RP & TM Sevil, Kenilworth, Mitchell sold Santa Gertrudis heifers to 426c/kg, reaching a top of $1,458 to average $1,296. The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 398c/kg, reaching a top of $2,190 to average $1,697.
Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 378c/kg and averaged 318c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 390c/kg, averaging 359c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 405c/kg, averaging 393c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 405c/kg, averaging 398c/kg.
Keddstock Pty Ltd, Noorindoo, Surat sold Charolais cows to 404c/kg, reaching a top of $2,804 to average $2,545. The Charolais bulls sold to 426c/kg, reaching a top of $3,452 to average $3,452.
