Gunnedah 19 May 2026: Stronger market for 2200 head

Yarding 2200 Change -1780

2200 cattle were scanned in Gunnedah, 1780 less than last week. It was a mixed quality yarding that mainly consisted of cows weaners and yearling type cattle. All major buyers were present for an overall much stronger market.

Young cattle to the trade were over 25c dearer. The steers made between 468c and 532c while the heifers made from 328c and 493c/kg. Yearling steers to feed were 25 to 35c dearer. They made between 470c and 539c to average 527c/kg. The heifers ranged from 426c to 490c/kg. Light cattle to the restocker were also considerably dearer the steers topped at 558c while the heifers made it to 538c/kg.

Prime grown cattle to the processor were limited and ranged between 400c and 480c/kg. Cows were 20c to 30c dearer across the board. 2 score cows to the processor made from 252c to 315c 3 score cows made from 300c to 355c and the prime heavy weight cows made from 338c to 404c/kg. Cows going back to the paddock made from 240c to 346c/kg and the best bulls made 392c/kg.
