Dalby sale 11 Sep 2024: Yearling steers to feed 3-6c/kg dearer

Buyer attendance and activity across all classes was good with southern processors providing strong support on all export processor lines.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were firm to 12c/kg better. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 3c to 6c/kg dearer. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers improved in price by 11c to 14c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed regained some of the previous weeks losses to average 12c/kg dearer. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors sold to a market 10c to 15c/kg better.

Plain condition cows to restockers lifted in price by 18c/kg. Heavy weight cows to processors regained the losses of the previous sale to average 10c/kg dearer. Heavy weight bulls were in demand and lifted in price. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 378c to 390c with sales to 428c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 377c and made to 394c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 406c in pen lots to average 373c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged from 281c to 314c with sales to 330c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 318c and sold to 340c and the heavy weights averaged 321c and sold to 354c/kg. Heavy grown steers averaged 360c with the bullock portion making to 361c to average 351c/kg. Very plain condition cows to restockers averaged 245c and 2 scores averaged 269c with sales to 272c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 250c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 286c and the best of the cows made to 315c to average 307c/kg. Heavy weight bulls were dearer with sales to 322c/kg.

Good sale here in Dalby today with all market being firm to stronger. Buyer attendance was good with all operating. Isolated showers this week and more rain forecast coming into spring, trade weight feeder cattle going back into the paddock were particularly strong.
