Australian cattle exports in October totalled 52,869 head, pushing the overall calendar year volume for 2025 to a four-year high of 638,335 head.
Exporters shipped 34,780 cattle to Indonesia, with that total almost on par with the rolling five-year average for October. Overall exports to Indonesia in 2025 now tally 445,402.
Trade activity to Vietnam remains subdued with just 2855 head shipped, 45 percent below the five-year October average. Total exports to Vietnam in 2025 now sit at 81,625 head.
Similarly shipments to China also remained low with only 3868 cattle exported for the month, bringing total numbers for 2025 to 28,943 head.
The emergent market of Mexico received a further 5096 head, making it the second largest destination for Australian cattle exports in October, and taking overall numbers to that market for the year to 20,837 head.
Darwin was again the most active port in October with 22,600 head shipped, followed by Portland (9386 head), Broome (8874 head), Wyndham (7437 head), Townsville (3672 head) and Fremantle (718 head).
