Yarding 3878 Change +1392

Strong price gains across most classes at the previous sale encouraged a larger yarding at Dalby, with agents penning 3,878 head, an increase of 1,392. Cows accounted for 543 head and bull numbers reached 333. A good panel of buyers returned and all were operating in a generally dearer market across the board.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to a market 20c to 35c/kg better. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 14c/kg dearer while the heavy weight yearling steers to feed improved by 30c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers lifted in price by 40c to 50c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were firm to marginally better. Heavy grown steers and bullocks lifted in price by 20c to 22c/kg. All classes of cows sold to a dearer trend with light weight plain condition lines to restockers over 30c/kg better. Heavy weight cows to processors averaged 10c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 712c with the largest numbers 625c to 633c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 611c with one consignment reaching 654c/kg. A good sample of heavy weight yearling steers to feed 630c with most at 597c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 574c to average from 503c to 525c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made on top of 584c with most from 534c to 539c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 528c and made to 556c/kg.

Heavy grown steers made to 540c and the bullock portion 538c to average around 513c to 517c/kg. Heavy grown heifers made to 516c/kg. Light weight very plain condition cows sold to restockers at an average of 357c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows to processors averaged 392c while the best of the cows made to 440c in pen lots with the largest numbers at 424c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 464c/kg.
