Yarding 7195 Change +250

Cattle numbers at Dalby lifted a further 250 head to 7,195 the highest in the nation so far this week. Cow numbers reduced from the previous week however still remained relatively high at 1,079 head along with 467 bulls. The yarding consisted of a good representation of cattle across all classes with interstate and local consignments contributing strongly to overall numbers. Buyer representation was good with the return of interstate support across both processor and restocker lines.

Prices and demand was erratic depending on type and quality. Most of the yearling steers could not maintain the levels of the previous sale. Light and medium yearling heifers also sold to a cheaper trend. However heavy weight yearling heifers to feed went against this trend to regain some of the previous weeks losses. A good lineup of bullocks averaged 8c to 10c/kg better. Prices for cows varied with medium weight plan condition lines 10c and up to 20c/kg less however good heavy cows experienced a strong market.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 481c  to 492c with sales to 558c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 552c averaged from 461c to 500c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 584c and averaged of 516c with the over 480kg lines making to 578c/kg. LIght weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 440c to average from 382c to 410c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 460c and averaged 420c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 448c with some outstanding lines reaching 504c/kg.

Heavy grown steers made to 497c and the bullock portion made to 492c to average in the mid-to high 470c/kg range. Heavy grown heifers made to 478c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 341c and made to 354c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 369c and the best of the cows made to 408c to average 389c/kg. Heavy weight bulls were cheaper and sold to 448c/kg some returning $5,371/head.
